EASTER PICNIC 2007

Dateline, Estrella Mountain Park, Saturday, April 7, 2007

A beautiful day before Easter was when the Filipino-American Association of Arizona (FAAAZ) held their first picnic and general membership meeting of 2007.  Attendance was over 300 strong and the games and all the days activities were all very successful.  Thanks to Mark DeGarriz and Halie Velazquez’ bright ideas the games came to fruition and a smashing success.

Members coming from all corners of the valley attended, kids did the egg hunt and games from egg toss to sack races were all enjoyed to the fullest.  A mother and son team of Mercy and Ronald Velazquez won the first sack race with Ronald getting impatient and literally carried his mother to the finish line, what a funny scene!

The most awaited activity, the dunk tank, finally started at 3:00 PM with Ging Pangan first occupying the hot seat with such worried anticipation.  Then, finally…..the first volley was thrown and pow! Ging was down, water temperature at 70 ºF engulfing her full body, Ah! exhilarating, what a rush, but Ging being a wonderful sport that she is, climbed up the seat again and waited for another volley, pow! the ritual started again and again and again, there was nothing like it!  She was followed by Kimberly Dodd, Ailene Elizaga and Alma DeGarriz, ditto!  Well done heroines, heroism after all is it’s own justification!

We welcome 17 family members.

The next picnic will again come Halloween, get your costumes ready.
