GOLF EVENT 2007
Falcon Dunes Golf Course, a beautiful golf course owned
by Luke Air Force Base located in Waddell Arizona was the site of the Filipino-American Association of Arizona’s second
fundraising golf tournament last Saturday, May 12, 2007. Thirty very avid and enthusiastic golfers were
in attendance ready for the challenge of the competition ahead.
Reports
of excitement abound as some were able to find their golf balls not lost just wayward. One hole was designated
as closest-to-the-pin (hole #2, par three 152 yards) and the other longest drive (hole #12, uphill par four).
Claiming the prize for closest-to-the-pin was our very own Joe Sambo and Aaron Artz, the longest drive.
The two beautiful trophies were donated by Rocky and Jojie Castillo.
The tournament was finished before noon and lunch was served at the clubhouse
and awards followed. First place team winners were Jamie Velasques, Albert Santos, Roy Fernandez and Aaron
Artz. Second place team were the duo of Joe Sambo and Nemy Cortez and third place was claimed in a playoff
on the number one designated handicap hole by the team of Doug Williams, Jeremy Riemen, Dave Minor and Todd Stephens.
Six organizations advertised on designated holes 1, 11,
and 18 tee boxes namely Sun Cities Financial Group, NLC International, High Intensity Training Centers (HIT), NHA Health Care
Solutions, World Leadership Group (WLG) and Global Realty Marketing.
There was a foursome from St Thomas Aquinas church, anchored by our very own Deacon
Chuck Shaw, Sacristan Kevin Mosier, Alex Fargas and Jun Balot. While we’re on this faith based team,
we also have a threesome from East Valley BLD (Bukas Loob sa Diyos) Many Siongco, Van Espiritu, and Butch Omega.
Pace of play was right at four hours. All had fun
and ready for the next outing.
